Frequently asked questions

Common questions about boiler replacement and heat pumps in Glasgow.

Do you cover all of Glasgow and the surrounding area?+
Yes. We arrange surveys and quotes across Glasgow city and the surrounding local authority areas including East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire, and North and South Lanarkshire. See our Areas page for the full list of districts and towns.
Is the survey and quote really no-obligation?+
Absolutely. Our survey and quote are completely no-obligation. The surveyor will assess your property, discuss your heating needs and provide a written quote. You are under no pressure to proceed — the decision is entirely yours.
Can you arrange quotes for air source heat pumps as well as boilers?+
Yes. As well as combi, system and regular boiler replacements, we arrange quotes for air source heat pumps and hybrid systems. These lower-carbon options are increasingly popular in Glasgow, particularly for properties upgrading from older, less efficient heating systems or for off-gas-grid homes.
Who carries out the installation?+
We arrange the survey and quote for paid installations. We install through MCS-certified partners; boilers are installed by Gas Safe registered engineers from our installation partner, ensuring the work meets recognised industry standards for quality and safety.
How long does a boiler replacement typically take?+
A straightforward combi boiler swap — where the new boiler goes in the same location as the old one — is usually completed within a day. More complex installations, such as changing boiler type or repositioning the unit, may take two to three days. Your surveyor will give you a clear timeframe with your quote.
What is the difference between a combi, system and regular boiler?+
A combi boiler provides heating and hot water on demand from a single compact unit, with no need for a cylinder or tank — ideal for flats and smaller homes. A system boiler works with a hot-water cylinder and is suited to larger homes with multiple bathrooms. A regular (heat-only) boiler uses a cold-water tank in the loft and a hot-water cylinder, and is often the simplest replacement for older properties with this existing setup.
How do I know which boiler type is right for my home?+
The right boiler depends on the size of your property, the number of bathrooms, your hot-water demand and your existing system. During the no-obligation survey, the surveyor will assess these factors and recommend the most suitable system. You can also read our Costs page for an overview of each boiler type.
What is an air source heat pump and is it suitable for my home?+
An air source heat pump is a lower-carbon heating system that extracts heat from the outside air to warm your home and hot water. It works best in well-insulated properties and may require larger radiators or underfloor heating. The surveyor will assess whether your property is suitable during the survey.
What is a hybrid heating system?+
A hybrid system combines a traditional boiler with an air source heat pump, allowing the system to use whichever heat source is most efficient depending on the weather and your hot-water demand. It can be a good option for homes that are not yet ready for a full heat pump conversion.
How quickly can you arrange a survey?+
We aim to arrange surveys within a few days of your enquiry, subject to surveyor availability in your area. Call us on 0141 230 0198 or fill in our quote form and we will book the earliest convenient appointment.
Will I be without heating or hot water during installation?+
For a straightforward combi swap, the heating and hot water are typically off for only a few hours during the day of installation. For more complex jobs, the surveyor will explain the timeline so you know what to expect.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for the survey?+
It helps to have your energy bills to hand and to think about any rooms that are too cold or too hot. Make sure the surveyor can access your current boiler, loft (if you have a tank) and all rooms with radiators. Write down any questions you have — the surveyor is there to help.
